A manufacturer of surgical equipment contacted TPS and asked us to test altitude variations in various medical device packaging.
This specially designed chamber is based on the Tenney Vacuum Oven SVO series, which has standard models available in 8, 12, 27, and 64 cubic-feet size offerings.
A twin, screw-type vacuum pump vacuums the chamber from site level to 0.169 mm Hg (200,000 feet.) Driven by an air-cooled motor, this unique pump is oil-less in its operation and uses nitrogen gas as a diluting agent and a sealant.
Electric heating cables circumvent the shell and door of this oven in a serpentine fashion, and the workspace is heated by conduction through the oven shell as well as radiation from the oven’s walls. A specially designed, fully welded and sealed, installed middle shelf with an embedded, electric heating cable provides an additional source of heat. Temperature range of the chamber is 10⁰ C through 60⁰ C, with an accuracy of +/- 1 degree after stabilization.
The chamber features an Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus 700 operator-interface terminal, a Compact Logix PLC, and Wonderware application software to ensure complete process control.
